I've experiments to run.
There is research to be done.
On the people who are still alive. - GLaDOS

Ran into this guy... :iconhellsplumber: at the MCM Expo, and he was lovely enough to take this picture with me.
Apologies it isn't the clearest of photos but the original was only taken on a mobile phone.
You can see better photos of my Steampunk Chell outfit here: Portal Gun / Boots / Belt Stuff / More Belt Stuff

Wow, awesome! Your props are absolutely amazing, especially the gun. There's so much detail in it; it's absolutely perfect. Are you going to upload any more photos? I'd love to see some more of the outfit itself.

I was going to do a steampunk Chell myself, I planned it months ago, but never actually got round to it. I drew a design which I don't think was far off yours (also had springs on the boots), though I couldn't think of how to steampunk the gun. I was going to have a plasma tube in the middle, but couldn't find one that would fit anywhere. I think your props are far better than anything I could have done, especially the gun. I would never have been able to put all the parts you listed into something like that.

Anyway, great job!

Thanks for your comment, really awesome to hear people like my work - especially like minded cosplayers :D
Lol completely know the feeling, plan so many cosplays every year... like before xmas, you think may is a long time away and then before you know it you have like 2 weeks left and a gun still in pieces! but yeah... somehow managed to pull it out of the bag in time this year.

Ha ha I always think it's funny how people say it's awesome how i use so much found stuff, but in reality I find it so much easier too use as much existing stuff as I can... that way it's like an unwritten jigsaw puzzle and the objects themselves go a long way into designing the final result themselves - for instance I never draw out designs... not ever, I reckon that's mostly cos I'm lazy as hell, though it does work pretty well :D
Definitely go for your chell cosplay at some point though, if you need any advice let me know, I'd be very happy to help ya out if I could x

You're welcome :)
Aah yeah, for my Eve cosplay I was still making it on the train on the way to the expo lol sometimes cosplays can take so much more time than you're expecting.

I agree that found stuff is easier to use than making stuff from scratch, but I'd never see a metal teapot stand, for example, and think that I could use it. I also think it's quite hard to find stuff like that. I hadn't made designs for my previous steampunk props, but since the gun was so much more ambitious I felt I needed some sort of design... then it wasn't really any different. I hope I can get round to it at some point, I've bought the jumpsuit and I've got a corset for it. Maybe this summer. And thanks!
