Self portrait in a series of three I submitted for the first fine art unit at uni.
The idea behind the three images was re-creating the formal elements of a photograph but using traditional methods.
I wanted to capture such a split moment in time like a photograph, but due to the application - draw that moment out for hours and hours.
The title 'Trespass of time' comes from this idea, it reflects my own feelings of dedication to my work against the snapshot of time it reflects and indeed the endlessness of the image after its completion.

Had so much fun taking the reference photos for this drawing... :P had to hold the toothpaste in my mouth while i sorted out the settings on the camera - it stung so bad!!!

Apologies for the blur on full-view, will get them properly scanned at some point...

My god! I adore the contrast from the shadows to the tooth brush! I can't help but to smile when I look at your work. It's so beautiful I could stare at it for hours. <3

You know what this is doing? It's making me want to actually create work. Cos I'm sitting here on my fat ass at 6am looking retrospectively at work I should have been around to see that repeatedly decapitates my work with a high calibre magnum over and over again in its awesomeness. I think it's called inspiration but.. no, wait, it can't be that, inspiration is BANNED. It ran away to Moscow with its fucking whore boyfriend forever ago when I decided guitar was way more worth it.

There is only one thing to do to decide my fate. We shall meet in battle atop the pointiest most shadowy mountain and do battle in paint!!

So next time we meet... beware! I have a cape! X

(That's an X for DOOM mark my words.)
